Hazards: glass and hard plastics

Glass and are categorized as the hazard foreign material. Injuries can occur by the consumer if they consume a containing a glass shard or hard plastic. Our distinguishes this from the other physical by giving it extra attention with the help of this glass and checks with the iMIS Audit.  Glass in the product could come from various sources.

Preventive measures:

The taken to prevent are:

  • Covering the fluorescent lights;
  • Covering the windows with foil;
  • Keep as much glass and hard plastic out of the areas as possible;
  • Checks via patrol.

There is a preventative glass and hard plastic patrol monthly (see also: ). This patrol checks for breaks and missing parts. Possible future breaks (condition) are also looked into.

The patrol has been taking place monthly for a long time. This has shown that problems can be prevented. A higher check frequency is not necessary at this moment. The frequency will of course be raised when there are more observations.

Measures by glass breakage:

Once a glass breakage occurs, the broken glass must be cleaned up as soon as possible. When cleaning glass, remnants may not remain behind. Glass waste should be stored in a specially designed container that is lockable and there is no of of the when storing or emptying. This container must be stored separately from products or (packaging) . During the cleaning up of glass shards, there may not be any production taking place within reasonable distance. Additionally, products that are inside this distance must be quarantined because there is a chance of physical contamination with glass. Objects, which are present close to the glass break, should be covered during the cleaning up of the glass.

When the glass is cleaned:

  • Rinse used material over sink;
  • Clean the sink;
  • Clean the material;
  • Worn clothing must be changed;
  • Cleaning or changing of shoes;
  • The worn clothing should be shaken out over the sink to remove potential glass pieces;
  • Rinse the sink;
  • Deposit clothing with the laundry.

When all the glass is removed, the space can be released. The cleaning is guided by the service. The quality service also releases the space after cleaning. Cleaning materials, such as brushes, which are used by glass breakages may not be used for other purposes. These materials must be stored apart.

Glass breaks must always be recorded.

If occur that are not described here, then the product must always be quarantined and, if necessary, rejected.

If a product is delivered with glass, a must always take place.
