Co-creating export with the CBI
Together with the CBI – Centre for the Promotion of Imports from developing countries, we hosted an event for Nigerian companies and organisations to discuss export to European countries and certification, digital documentation, and (digital) food safety compliance. This event was held in Rotterdam in the Van Nelle factory on the 5th of December.
The CBI promoting import and export
The goal of the CBI, also known as the Centre for the Promotion of Imports from Developing Countries, is to support the transformation towards inclusive and sustainable economies. The CBI enhances the social, economic, and environmental sustainability of Small and Medium-Sized Businesses (SMEs) in emerging economies.
The Food Safety and export event
The morning was divided into 3 sections;
Lecture Food Safety Basics
In the lecture on food safety basics, multiple topics concerning food safety were discussed to ensure everyone has the same level and understanding of food safety. The presentation was based on the following presentation.
Workshop export status companies
In the following workshop, the representatives of the Nigerian companies, as well as representatives of the Nigerian Export Promotion Council, discussed the status of their organisation as well as long-term goals for the food company, such as getting certified, ISO 22000, FSSC 22000, BRC, IFS, Global G.A.P. or exporting in general. Each organisation will get a personal follow-up to elaborate more on their goals.
Lunch and graduation ceremony
After the busy morning, there was time for lunch and time to ask questions. All participants received a certificate on Food Safety Basics.
